Stitch and Cinderella were two of eight
puppies born on 1/1/2207 in our
home. Their mommy, Abby had been
rescued 2 days prior from an Animal
Control where she was on her last day.
That day we rescued 9 lives, not just
one.

Jackie and Kim,
We did not forget about you guys … can’t, couldn’t, won’t! Planned on giving the weekly update tomorrow, so
sorry if you felt out of the loop.
The kiddos are doing great. Although right now they see we are home and active, so they are whimpering for
us to come as I write this!!! We took them to the vet on Monday and, of course, she said they look great, even
considering Stitch took a header off the exam table (he went potty, I turned around to step on the lever for the lid
to the trash can, dropped the trash and, by the time I turned around, he was off). He was fine, thank goodness!
I had the vet check him twice! We follow up next Sunday. After that, it’s puppy classes.
Ok, so other than the not-so-unusual-for-Stitch-header, the only accidents we’ve had are potty. By Tuesday
morning, we were off the paper as it was confusing them and it took that time to make it apparent to us. Much
like you guys, we have a door off of our kitchen, so we put a gate up to the hallway into the house and that is
their play area. They have messed up a few times in there, but they are getting very good at telling us when
they need to go and even stay outside until they are done. For instance, Stitch came up the back stairs when
he was done earlier today, but then Cinderella stayed at the bottom and whimpered since she still had to go.
She then ran off, went poop, I made the requisite big deal of it, which it is, and inside we went.
Who thought potty training would make us so happy!!! The other thing we are getting to know better is their
individual personalities. Stitch is Catholic; I recognize this because I was raised Catholic and he has the guilty
conscience!!! Also, he is a little more playful and bull-headed (dare I say slower than her … no, never!) when it
comes to listening, but he’s getting there. Cinderella, is a cuddler and listens and catches on magnificently.
Now, if she can teach her brother.
You guys were right about having them both. Maria and I have felt sorry for those puppies that don’t have
playmates or companions. Sorry for the owners too, because the energy the puppies expend has to be on
something else other the other, and that is a lot of energy to control!!! On that note, at the beginning of the
week, Maria was freaking out on how rough they play with each other. I told her, and solidified my stance, after
researching it a bit, that it was normal and it is not a sign of aggression in any way. They are puppies at play
and are also establishing their own little hierarchy, which, by the way, changes every day! The gecko is proving
to be a favorite!
We’re not the only ones who love them. Grandma Nisbet has been coming over every day to let them out and
she loves it. It surprises me, especially with what I was telling you guys about here dog-requirements, but she
even made it a point to bring her cousin over and she grabbed Cinderella and was kissing all over her! I think,
since she is seeing them as puppies and plays a integral part in raising them, it makes it easier for her.
Besides, who can deny them!!! Now, this doesn’t come without its share of politics. See, my Mom can’t really
stand the way my sister’s dog Libby (the American Bulldog) jumps all over you when you come in. As such, my
Mom thinks Libby is a little wild and won’t let her in her house (she’s gotten used to having things her way in her
house since all the kids and pets are gone) as she’s afraid she’ll tear it up. Probably wouldn’t tear it up, but
nonetheless. This ticks my sister off a bit. So, here comes Stitch and Cinderella and their Grandma’s babies
too … see where I’m going? Oh, it’s all good!
Btw, when we went to the vet, Stitch was 10lb 2oz and Cinderella was 8lb 8oz, so he’s pulling ahead. I did a
weighing at home yesterday, just to see, because Stitch is seemingly much thicker and, although I don’t trust the
accuracy (it’s a digital scale, I stood on it and then grabbed each one, subtracting my weight), Cinderella
weighed 10lb 8oz and Stitch was 11lb 8oz!!! We’ll see next Sunday. They seem to like the Pro Plan though!!!
Ok, stream-of-consciousness here. Stitch’s eyes are now green, so they may be turning; they are still
gorgeous!
I *think* that’s it, but we’ll be sure to let you know if we think of anything else. For sure, as we progress! Sorry
for the delay. We really are glad we have these dogs and got them from you … you guys are terrific!
We hope everything is going ok with Mel and all of your other rescues.
Sincerely, Vince and Maria

Jackie and Kim,
We’re so sorry to hear about Peter Pan. I was so upset to hear about him and hope he turns out ok. If there is
a chance for him, it’s with you guys.
We did our follow-up with the vet today, where the kiddos got their first distemper/parvo shot along with a de-
wormer. In addition, we have heartworm medication to start them on today. We will be starting training next
week, but it is at Webster Groves Animal Hospital and they will not let puppies into their training without their
shots, so we feel safe in that. They will be getting another shot prior to starting, but I can’t remember what it’s
called. Our next follow-up is in three weeks. We have not taken them anywhere other than here and the vet, nor
do we plan to until they are at least four months old (that sound right?).
One thing they definitely are doing is eating … everything. I had no idea we had so much bark in our backyard,
but apparently we do because they keep chewing on it! The vet said to increase their intake to ¾ cup per meal
each, 2x daily. We have thus far been giving them about a ½ cup each per meal twice daily.
I guess what I’m driving at in all this is, these two are doing wonderfully and we will do our utmost to ensure they
continue to do so. We are sorry about Peter Pan and, if we come across someone who is a good candidate,
we will definitely let you know. Please keep us posted and hang in there.
Sincerely, Vince and Maria
